Glen Spey – 2000 – 12yo – 46% – Cask 266 – Orcines

Nose : We have something undoubtedly very clean. The whole thing is very melted and the only note that stands out right fro the start is a cumin note. Around it, we find some cold stone but also a not really distinct vegetal note. Then, flaked almonds and stewed pears arrive inside a quite oily and perfectly organized nose. A bit too monomaniac in the spirit but pleasant. The opening brings toasted white bread and white fruits (apples) notes alongside malt.

Mouth : The texture is quite rich and the dram upholsters the palate. The reduction did absolutely not alter its corpulence. We still are on spices (cumin, white pepper) with a pear compote enlivened with roasted malt which is slowly getting replaced by vegetal notes (dill) before a juniper touch comes in. A rather simple mouth but pretty well done.

Finish : There is a beautiful length. We have a certain vegetal bitterness, with a sensation close to an other alcohol (gin). The spices are still here but in a more imperial way with a bit of cold stone. The aftertaste keeps this directing line.
