Armed with a good reputation, Ardmores from 1992 arrive in great number on the independant bottlers market. Today, let’s taste a 20 year old release from Daily Dram.
Nose : Slightly peaty and smoky at first, it quickly reveals a very beautiful fruitiness (pineapple, green apple), sourness, a bit of varnish and also a floral and « green » aspect pretty marked. After a few minutes of airing, also appear some farm notes that give this Ardmore a nice complexity with a lot of fineness.
Mouth : Enough power to highlight the flavors without waisting this beautiful delicacy impression left by the nose. The attack is pretty pastry oriented (apple pie) and fruity (still green apples, peaches but also lemon). A veil of peat and smoke remains on the background. Once again, the farm ain’t far down the road and the tasting really carries us on a nice stroll. A light acidness gives a bit of vividness to this beautiful whisky.
Finish : Good length, on cut grass, lemon and a bit of smoke.
