Here is the last chapter of the Devil’s Punch Bowl trilogy. Beyond the catchy look, will this composition made in Arran measure up to our expectations?
Nose : A pretty freshness wave ! A lot of cereals, a bit of honey and vanilla with some wood. We clearly feel the toasted bourbon casks. In an other register, we find dark chocolate, cherries, dark grapes. It is very pleasant and quite atypical. The whole is pretty balanced and not too alcoholic. Let’s try the mouth.
Mouth : Intense on red fruits and spices, cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, horseradish. The dark chocolate / red fruits / spices trio work fiendishly well. The chocolate bitterness is counterbalanced by the sweetness of the fruit. It is well balanced. The bourbon casks add a bit of light in this infernal universe, with sweet vanilla and honey notes.
Finish : Very long and intense, on dark chocolate bitterness and spices, with just enough fruits for this devil cup to entertain us for a few more minutes.
