After the 12 yo non-chill filtered, we continue our journey within the Aberlour official range . This younger brother is much less powerful and is one of basal bottles from the Speyside distillery…
Nose : we start with dried fruits (almonds, walnuts) as well as milk chocolate. It’s only then we smell honey, marzipan and raisins. The opening brings a fresh note (persillade) but also honey waffles. It stabilizes then with a pinch of orange. A quite well-formed nose despite its lack of energy.
Mouth : the texture is fairly watery, well saved by a honey appearance. We taste notes of orange peels, spices (cinnamon, 5 berries pepper) and milk chocolate. Spices are more perceptible in the second part of the mouth. This is an Aberlour in its simplest expression.
Finish : it’s very short with the orange and the cinnamon. The persistence is really inadequate which is rather prejudicial to it. Only the orange remains.
