Neisson, founded in 1931, is the smallest distillery of the island. This entry-range version is a blend, with a 6 months maturation in stainless steel vats. A soft way in for the distillery from Martinique. The version tried here isn’t a recent one…
Nose : The sugar cane is first on the breach, then we find lemony sugar, potato and some small crème fraîche fragrances. The agglomerate gives the impression to smell a very sweet flower. Some coconut sometimes successes to pierce this first bullet-proof vest as well as quick orange and pepper scents. It is a delicate nose, not extremely complex but which remains very pleasant.
Mouth : The texture is broad, not very round but with an enveloping grip and a beautiful aromatic power. We get sugar cane flavors, again some lemony sugar and a small orange-coco mix. We’re perfectly aligned with the nose, the alcohol being well integrated. A quite simple mouth, but really efficient.
Finish : We find ourselves with the same profile as the mouth, with a more candied orange but with a light vegetal bitterness. The aftertaste is more ethereal with a comeback of the stir-fried potato and the orange.
