June the first, 2013, like always for the Ardbeg Day, the distillery from Islay offered us a limited release. A 10 years old whisky, fruit of the mix of a bourbon cask and a Manzanilla Sherry cask. A version that won’t wo gown in history…
Nose : We’re facing a strangely neutral peat (lightly chemical), vanilla, banana and lemon. The sweetness is high and makes it less pleasant. The opening offers mandarin and gaseous notes.
Mouth : The peat is rather buttery with pretty bleak notes (vanilla, lemon, caramel). The sweetness is still too strong and invades the tasting space. We then have a small hint of alcohol that comes out.
Finish : Very neutral on vanilla and caramel. The aftertaste lays on vanilla, lemon and soft spices.
